Expanded Tools in Patient Passport

Patients can complete forms directly from Passport and join virtual visits with one tap. Appointment detail cards in Patient Passport now surface visit instructions, patient forms with completion status, and a meeting join link for virtual appointments. For more information, see Patient Passport Guides.

Manage Scheduled Work When Terming Users

New workflows help you manage and transition patient care appropriately when a provider leaves your practice. When disabling access for provider-level users, practice admins now have the ability to generate reports for both future scheduled appointments and post-dated (future) messages. For staff-level inactivations, only the message report is available for download. For more information, see Best practices for deactivating accounts and Managing User Accounts. A faster, easier way to work in select Settings pages is now available.
  • The Lab Orders settings page now loads lab order sets grouped by vendor and compendium, each with its own paginated, searchable, alphabetized list. For more information, see Managing Lab Order Sets.
  • The Templates settings page now has tabbed navigation across Physical Exam, Review of Systems, Letters & Referrals, and Visit Note templates. For more information, see Templates Settings.

Non-Visit Note Templates Now Available

Simplify phone call documentation and care coordination workflows, particularly for PACE and value-based care teams. Non-visit note templates are now available to all practices using Non-Visit Notes, supporting accurate billing and regulatory reporting. For more information, see Non-Visit Note Templates.

Require Payment Method Upon Appointment Booking

To help ensure your practice can recoup costs for missed appointments, you can now require patients to add a valid credit card or bank account (ACH) to their record before booking a self-scheduled appointment. No charge is made at booking; the payment method is only verified and stored on file. For more information, see Patient Booking Site.

Improved Letter Drafting in Wordsmith

Fuller access to chart details and refined prompts drive higher-quality, more accurate letters from Elation’s AI-powered letter-writing tool, Wordsmith. For more information, see Wordsmith.

Elation Billing

Ensure patients receive clear, accurate, and correctly branded statements. Practices can now configure statement settings per practice entity, including business name, phone number, payment plan messaging, and Stripe account. The system automatically selects the correct entity when sending a statement, based on the outstanding claim. For multi-stripe practices, the patient-facing payment portal also now automatically uses the appropriate Stripe account. For more information, see Practice Entities.

Developer Platform

Enhanced Billing & Financial Reporting

New improvements to Hosted Database reporting for the Elation Billing solution provide greater visibility into your financial data.
  • Generate more granular financial and operational reports with billing_status_detail exposing full bill status (Signed, Awaiting sign-off, Received by PMS) and four provider reference columns (rendering, referring, supervising, ordering) now denormalized on the bill table — no joins required
  • Build complete claim context and reporting with five new lookup tables (legal_entity, worklist, worklist_reason, tag, tag_system) providing the reference data surrounding EB claims
  • Track patient responsibility and statement workflows via new patient_guarantor (demographics), patient_statement_tracking (statement state), user_practice (practice membership), and elation_sso_user (EHR-EB user cross-reference) tables
  • Analyze payer relationships and transaction capabilities with the new payer table offering a unified view of every practice payer, paired with the Claim.MD directory — including payer type, alternate names, and supported transaction types (eligibility, ERAs, claims)
