What’s New?

Elation Health is excited to announce our latest updates designed to enhance your experience with our EHR, Billing and Developer Platform. All of our releases focus on reducing documentation burden, streamlining workflows, and improving efficiency. Here’s what’s new from January 2025:

Elation EHR Updates

New Bidirectional Lab Integration

The following bidirectional lab integration is now available:
  • Northwell Health Labs - a full-service clinical laboratory that provides a wide range of diagnostic testing services including blood work, pathology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and specialized testing. It is part of Northwell Health and serves the Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties) regions.
Bidirectional lab interfaces enable eOrdering in addition to eResults, ensuring efficiency and accuracy when placing lab orders and reducing administrative burden and paperwork for your practice. Elation is thrilled to offer these integrations at no additional cost to its valued customers. Refer to our Bidirectional Lab Interface guide for more information.

Increase to Outbound Fax Page Limit

Experience less manual work and a smoother workflow when sending large faxes. We have increased the outbound faxing page limit from 20 pages to 40 pages, allowing you to more easily send larger faxes. Seamless functionality to send larger documents allows you to spend less time managing faxes and more time focusing on your patients. Please note, recipients of outbound faxes that are 40 pages or more will receive a two-page document: a cover page and instructions for retrieving the full document online via their Elation Connect account. This functionality is similar to what happened previously for faxes that were 20 pages or more.

Elation Billing Updates

Manual Control Over Claim Assignment

Elation Billing now gives practices more control over how they handle insurance claims. With our latest update, clinicians can manually override assignment on claims—offering greater flexibility, especially for practices managing out-of-network billing. Previously, Elation defaulted to “Accept Assignment” on all claims, meaning practices had to agree to insurance-approved rates. Now, users have the option to decline assignment on aclaim-by-claim basis, allowing practices to:
  • Bill patients directly for services when preferred.
  • Navigate out-of-network claims with more autonomy.
  • Avoid administrative burdens tied to lower reimbursement rates.

Improved Claim Visibility on the Worklist

We’ve added two new columns to the Elation Billing Worklist to provide clearer, more efficient claim management:
  • Secondary Insurance – Now displayed directly from the patient’s insurance record, making it easier to track coverage at a glance.
  • Balance – Shows the outstanding balance for each claim, helping practices prioritize follow-ups and payments.
These updates streamline billing workflows, reducing the need to navigate between screens and ensuring key claim details are always within reach.

Developer Platform

Hosted Database Upgrade

The Hosted Database was upgraded to version 1.8 on January 15, 2025. The updates are now available in Production, and include enhancements that improve overall data quality, facilitate more accurate analytics, and ensure streamlined and efficient access to information.
