We hope to broaden our customers’ knowledge of our amazing features and share best practice workflows. The questions from December 2023 and January 2024 can be divided into the following categories:

Charting

How do I create a new visit note type (visit note category)?

Admin Level Users can go to the ‘Report & Visit Note Categories’ settings page in Elation to customize visit note categories for visit notes. Click here to learn more about this setting.

Faxing

How do I send a fax that is not linked to a specific patient?

Best practice is to create a generic patient chart (ex. called ‘Fax Out’) and then fax the document from the generic patient chart using the Provider Letter feature . How do I fax an imaging order to the Imaging Center? You can use the Letter to Provider feature in Elation to fax an imaging order to the Imaging Center. Click here to learn more about this feature.

Patient Intake

How do I import information from complete patient forms to the patient’s chart?

To import information from completed forms to the patient’s chart or visit note:
  1. Open the patient’s chart. Submitted forms will appear under “Outstanding Items”.
  2. Click on the form’s name to open and review patient responses.
  • Both providers and staff will have visibility of all the question texts and answers including the patient’s agreement status, signature, and the date and time the signature was provided for signature questions.
  1. If you’d like to export any responses to the chart, check the checkbox to the left of the response.
  2. Choose whether you are exporting to the “Clinical Profile”, “Visit Note” or both, and click “Export”.
  3. Provider Level Users will be able to sign off on the complete Patient Form(s) to file it into the Chronological Record of the chart.

How do I request an electronic signature from a patient using Patient Forms?

You can add the “Patient Signature” question to new and existing patient forms in your settings to collect an electronic signature from the patient. Click here to learn more about the ‘Patient Signature’ question for the Patient Forms feature.

Scheduling

How do I view the calendar for two providers side by side?

To view the calendar of multiple providers side by side, click the “Expand” button at the top of the calendar and then click “All Providers”. Click here to learn more about the expanded Calendar view

How do I add an appointment to the calendar from the patient’s chart?

The feature to add an appointment to the calendar from the patient’s chart is currently unavailable. We will notify you if this feature becomes available in the future. Click here to learn more about the Calendar feature.
