Workflow Instructions

Preparing to use Note Assist

1Use a supported browser: Computer/laptop: Firefox, Chrome • Android devices: Chrome • iPhones/iPads: Safari
2Apply the recommended visit note format to your visit note category defaults. Best supported formats: • Partially supported formats:
3Document vital signs ahead of the visit as usual by having your support staff, such as Medical Assistants or other clinicians, enter them in advance.
4Import Clinical Profile information or apply Visit Note Templates to the visit note before using Note Assist. When you import the patient’s problem list into the HPI or Assessment/Plan sections, Note Assist keeps those diagnoses and adds relevant details from the conversation if it detects those problems.

Using Note Assist

1Create a new visit note and prepare the visit note as you normally would.
2Click Scribe at the bottom right of the chart to open Note Assist.
3Apply any Visit Note Templates as needed. Click here for guidance on template creation and examples.
4Allow Note Assist to use a specified microphone connected to your device. Click here for full instructions on preparing your microphone for recording.
5Review your settings to ensure the correct Language, Microphone and Personalization preferences are applied.
6Optimize how Note Assist populates your visit note by: Speaking clearly and as close to the microphone as possible. • Narrating vital sign readings to automatically record them in the appropriate Vitals fields. • Narrating your physical exams to automatically populate discrete Physical Exam fields. • Narrating care plan recommendations explicitly by prefacing those with a statement such as “For your care plan…” followed by the instructions. • Verbalizing your corrections, if any.
7Review Care Plan Actions. Click here for instructions on how to use Care Plan Actions.
Note Assist generates detailed content for most parts of the note, including the HPI, Vitals, and Assessment & Plan (A&P). If you turn them on in Advanced Settings, it can also fill in the PE(Physical Exam), F/U (Follow-Up), and Care Plan sections. Note Assist currently does not fill out the ROS (Review of Systems) section.
