Workflow Instructions

Managing yearly CPT code updates

Using deprecated CPT codes when billing for encounters will result in claim rejections. To avoid this issue, we recommend reviewing your Popular CPT Codes at the beginning of each calendar year to ensure you have saved the most up to date CPT Codes. To review your Popular CPT Code settings:
1Click Settings to open your Elation Settings.
2Click Billing Settings .
3Scroll to the Popular CPT Codes section of your Billing Settings.
4Review each CPT code to make sure they are all still valid and have the most up to date descriptor. Delete any obsolete CPT Codes to prevent them from appearing in your CPT search when you are searching for billing codes. • Update the description of CPT Codes with revised descriptions to ensure your searches return accurate results.

Reviewing Visit Note Templates with CPT Codes

If you have any visit note templates that include CPT codes, we also recommend reviewing your Visit Note Templates at the beginning of each calendar year to ensure the codes are still valid. To review your Visit Note Templates:
1Open any patient’s chart.
2Click on the Templates button at the top of the patient’s chart.
3Click Visit Note Templates .
4Click on the name of each Visit Note Template to view its contents.
5Edit any outdated CPT Codes as needed.
6Click Save Template to save your changes.
