Overview

Elation customers using the Stripe Integration to collect patient payments will automatically receive a 1099 tax form from Stripe via email by January 31st each year for the previous tax year. The 1099 will be sent to the email address associated with the Stripe account. To ensure you receive an accurate 1099, review your Stripe account details by December 15th and update your account details as necessary. To review Stripe account details:

2Click AccountBusiness Details .
Whenever you update your business details in Stripe, email a copy of the updated W9 to Elation via the Contact Support form so we can update the 1099 filed on your behalf.

Who issues the 1099?

Stripe issues the 1099 tax form for payments collected through Elation Patient Payments—not Elation. Stripe is the payment processor and is responsible for tax reporting on funds paid out to your practice.

When will I receive my 1099?

Why might I not receive a 1099?

Stripe follows IRS reporting thresholds for issuing 1099-K forms. If your practice’s total payment volume through Stripe did not meet the IRS threshold for the tax year, Stripe may not issue a 1099. Contact Stripe directly to confirm your eligibility and threshold status.

How do I update my Stripe account type to a Business or Non-profit entity?
To update your Stripe account type to Business or Non-profit, you must reach out to Stripe using the following instructions:
1Sign in to your Stripe Dashboard in Elation via SettingsPatient Payments .
2In the Dashboard, locate the ? speech bubble icon in the top right corner and click it.
3Select the option to contact Stripe’s Support team. Alternatively, you can use the following direct links:
4Paste the following message into the chat box: Hello Stripe Team, I hope you’re well. I am writing to request that my Express account be updated to a ___________ Entity. Please see the details below for your reference:
5Once the update is made (typically within 24 hours), you will receive an email from Stripe confirming that your account has been updated.
6After receiving confirmation, log back into your Stripe Dashboard and review your Business details to ensure all information is accurate. If necessary, update your EIN or any other relevant details.
7Afterwards, contact Elation Support to notify us of your updated account details and send us a copy of your updated W9 and we will file a new 1099 for you.
8Afterwards Stripe will email you the updated 1099.
