After connectivity is set up via SFTP we will fetch the results from the proper folder path every 15 min. Elation ensures the results are routed to the proper account through two validation points in the HL7 message. MSH 6 is used as the practice identifier and ORC 12 is used to find the provider who is responsible for the incoming report. It is critical that the provider NPI, first name, and last name are in the proper sections of the ORC 12. Lab results where the Elation provider has been marked as a “Copy To” recipient can be received and processed. NPI of the “Copy To” provider must be entered in the OBR 28.1. If this cannot be done, the lab vendor should continue to send Copy To results to the provider via fax or courier.
