# How to Bill Zero Dollar Claims

This article explains how to bill zero dollar claims for reporting purposes.

To bill a \$0 claim for reporting purposes, enable the Zero Dollar Claims rule by going to **Practice Settings > Billing Rules**. When the Zero Dollar Claims rule is toggled on, Elation automatically tags \$0 claims with the reporting code `RP`. The clearinghouse will then accept the \$0 claim instead of rejecting it.

A few implementation details:

* The reporting code is `RP`.
* It is applied at the claim level, not the charge level.
* If the claim is marked `RP` at the claim level, an entire \$0 claim will not be rejected by the clearinghouse.
