# Product Updates — September 2026

> New features and improvements released across Elation EHR, Elation Billing, and Note Assist in September 2026.

## Elation EHR

### Clinical Insights is now Elation AI

Elation AI (previously referred to as Clinical Insights) is now its own activity within a patient's chart, decoupled from the Chronological Record search. The new workflow offers three default prompts, helping you explore a patient's record, surface relevant clinical information, and quickly draft a referral. It works alongside you during a visit or in-between visits, and currently offers the following capabilities:

* **Chart Insights:** Ask questions about a patient's clinical history and get answers.
* **Quick Actions:** Configure and save prompts for common clinical scenarios.
* **PREVENT™ Calculator:** Assess cardiovascular risk using the AHA PREVENT™ equations directly within the Elation AI session.
* **Speech-to-text:** You can ask questions instead of typing them, using the microphone button.
* **Letter drafting:** Ask Elation AI to draft a letter.

Consolidating Elation AI into its own workflow enables broader use of its features, and supports future delivery of new capabilities. For more information, see [Elation AI](/articles/elation-ai).

### Reassign Renewal Requests

Keep prescription renewals moving when care is reassigned or a prescriber leaves your practice. Prescribers and their delegates can now reassign an incoming eRx renewal request to a different eligible prescriber from the Requiring Action section of the patient's chart. The reassigned request can then be addressed by the newly assigned prescriber, and the request shows a clear audit trail. Reassignment is limited to provider-level ePrescribing accounts with active Surescripts enrollment. Controlled substance renewals must be reassigned to an EPCS-enabled prescriber. For more information, see [Prescriptions Guide](/articles/managing-electronic-prescriptions#reassign-renewal).

### Copy Availability

Simplify and speed up new clinician or clinic onboarding. Practice admins can now copy a provider's full availability schedule to another provider in one click. From **Settings > Calendar & Booking > Availability**, clicking **Clone Availability** on any provider location card lets you pick a target clinician and copy all saved availability blocks, including appointment type restrictions. The feature is additive; blocks the target clinician already has are skipped, so it's safe to use the tool multiple times. For more information, see [Enhanced Provider Availability](/articles/Calendar-Booking-Site-Guide-Enhanced-Provider-availability-by-Practice-Location-Appointment-Type).

### Easier Way for Patients to Reschedule

Optimize patient access and scheduling efficiency. Patients can now reschedule directly from their reminder email or text message, with the original appointment automatically canceled when they complete a new booking. The new flow pre-filters the Booking Site to the original provider and appointment type, and a confirmation message is sent when the new appointment is created. Practices not using the Booking Site are unaffected. Practices using the Booking Site must allow patients to cancel their appointments online. For more information, see [Appointment Reminders](/articles/appointment-reminders#allowing-patients-to-reschedule-via-reminders).

### Find Visit Notes Faster

Find visit notes without searching the patient chart. Selecting a past or upcoming appointment from the **Clinical Profile** now launches a new **Patient Appointments** list that displays the patient's past and upcoming appointments. From the list, you can view the status of each appointment as well as navigate to the corresponding notes: **View draft** opens an unsigned draft; **View note** searches the chronological record and highlights the signed note; and **Create note** starts a new note for that appointment/type. For more information, see [Opening visit notes from the appointment list](/articles/clinical-profile-record-patient-medical-history#opening-visit-notes-from-the-appointment-list).

### Optimized PE/ROS Template Selection

Start documenting faster with improved Physical Exam and Review of Systems template selection. The previous functionality has been replaced with a new searchable selection tool that loads templates faster, one page at a time, which is especially helpful to practices with large template libraries.

### More Self-Service Set-up Tools

Reduce administrative delays with self-service order center configurations. Your practice can now create and manage all imaging, pulmonary, sleep, and cardiac ordering centers directly from **Settings > Labs & Centers**. Tabs along the top of the page let you manage each type of ordering center, and a toggle allows you to show or hide any default Elation centers in the relevant ordering workflows. A **Manage Centers** link on each of the order forms provides a direct path to the settings page. For more information, see [Managing Labs & Centers](/articles/managing-imaging-centers).

### Add Attachments to Practice Reply Messages

Save time with an updated patient message reply workflow. Practice staff can now attach chart documents directly to replies in a patient message thread using the new **Attach Chart Item** button in the reply form. When selected, the button opens the same selection screen used when composing a new letter. Attachments show up under that message both in the chart and in the patient's Passport thread. For more information, see [Attaching chart items to a reply](/articles/Passport--Communicating-with-patients#attaching-chart-items-to-a-reply).

## Elation Billing

### Fee Schedules Now Available \[EHR Feature]

Maximize revenue and ensure predictable reimbursement with new Fee Schedules. In Billing Settings, all practices can **Enable Fee Schedules** to replace the legacy **Popular CPT Codes** configuration. Practices can then customize fee schedules with Medicare-based rates and configure specific charges by provider, payer, and service location. With Fee Schedules enabled, Elation automatically matches and applies the correct rate when coding a visit note or creating a bill. For more information, see [Fee Schedules in the EHR](/articles/fee-schedules-in-the-ehr).

### Smarter AI Coding \[Elation Billing Feature]

Experience automated coding that aligns to your practice and requires fewer edits, with no set-up required. AI Coding, available as part of Elation Billing, now learns practice-specific preferences from your signed, billed visits. It identifies codes commonly kept, conditionally used, or removed by note type and template, then applies that guidance to future code generation. For more information, see [Elation Billing/Automated Coding](/articles/billing#automated-coding).

## Note Assist

### More Customization

Optimize your Note Assist experience with a new per-provider toggle for Vital Signs auto-generation. The toggle displays on the set-up screen (gear icon), under Personalization, and matches existing toggles for generating Physical Exam, Care Plan, and Follow-Up note content.

Along with the new note customization option, we've also made improvements so notes stay true to clinician input with preserved language and formatting, grounded findings, and richer assessment details. For more information, see [Note Assist Guide — Feature Updates](/articles/Note-Assist-Guide-Feature-Updates).

### Downloadable Transcripts

Quickly review and reference visit conversations as needed, when Note Assist has scribed the note. Clinicians can now download the speech-to-text transcript directly from the note's Action menu in the Chronological Record. The transcript downloads as a plain-text (.TXT) file and is typically available for 14 days after the note is signed. For more information, see [Note Assist Guide FAQ](/articles/Note-Assist-Guide-FAQ).
