# Fax Inbox Guide - Managing fax settings & fax usage

**Overview**

## What settings can be configured for my faxes?

There are two settings that you can configure:

1. Specify whether documents in your fax inbox are sorted by default by **Newest** or **Oldest**.
2. Specify whether attachments should always be included on outbound Letters and Referrals. Click here to learn more about outbound faxes.

## What is fax usage?

Your practice’s fax usage for a month is the total number of fax pages sent and received by everyone at your practice.

## Workflow Instructions

### Adjusting your default for fax sorting

To specify how you'd like documents in your fax inbox to appear:

1. Go to **Settings** in Elation.
2. Go to the **Fax Usage & Settings** page.
3. Select the radio button for **Default fax sorting** for **Newest** or **Oldest**.

### Adjusting your default for fax attachments

To specify that you want to always include attached documents with your outbound faxes:

1. Go to **Settings** in Elation.
2. Go to the **Fax Usage & Settings** page.
3. Adjust the toggle for\*\* Fax all attachments by default\*\* to **Yes**.
